Fresh analysis for literacy

3rd November 1995 at 00:00
The recently-established Birkbeck Literacy Assessment Centre claims to be able to give in-depth analysis of children's reading and spelling difficulties by employing new assessment methods.

Founders of the centre, Dr Estelle Lewin and Dr Morag Stuart, carry out a variety of well-controlled tests to identify specific problems and then design a personalised and focused course of remedial training.

A seminar programme has been organised for teachers and special needs professionals, kicking off on November 21 with a free introduction to the methods for inspectors and special needs advisers.
