Friday hero

21st April 2000 at 01:00
Barbara Still has been a teacher at Hummersknott comprehensive school in Darlington for 27 years.

She's been a head of English but is currently in a pastoral post as head of house, with more than 300 pupils aged 11-16 in her care. "She still manages to know each one personally and always has time for a chat and a friendly word," says her colleague Diana Baker who nominated her for our flowers tis week. Barbara provides "invaluable support" to fellow teachers and with her wealth of experience gives wise support and guidance.

Please send the name of your Friday Hero - and why he or she should get a bouquet - to Sarah Bayliss, TES Friday, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX or e-mail her at sarah.bayliss@tes.co.uk. Flowers kindly supplied by Marks and Spencer
