Mrs Evelyn Purcell has worked at King Edward VI Handsworth school, Birmingham, for more than a quarter of a century Nominated for our bouquet by the headmistress, Elspeth Insch OBE, and all the staff of this 880-girls grammar, Evelyn is a treasure known as the "Staff Mum". Starting work in the school kitchen, she has long been part of staffroom life, providing ta, coffee, a ready smile and a listening ear. "Every school should have an Evelyn!" says Miss Insch.
