Friday hero

Frances Cavanagh has been assistant caretaker at Our Lady's Catholic high school, Lancaster, for the past 11 years.

Always willing to help, she never complains about the sometimes unpleasant jobs caretakers have to do. "What makes her special is her unfailing good humour," says headteacher Michael Webster. When a new technology building opened at this 1,040-strong 11-18 school, an euipment supplier said: "I've been in lots of schools and I've never come across a more cheerful or obliging caretaker."

Please send the name of your Friday Hero - and why he or she should get a bouquet - to Sarah Bayliss, TES Friday, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX or e-mail her at Flowers kindly supplied by Marks and Spencer
