Teachers would happily recommend teaching to others, if they knew that things were going to get better. So, what is needed is a solemn pledge that next September will see the end of curriculum overload, understaffing, the annual pay swindle and Margaret Hodge's visions. Then, not only would teacher training be in with a chance, but all those former teachers now exiled would stampede rejoicing back to where their heart has always been - the classroom.
