General Teaching Council

(Photograph) - THE General Teaching Council's long-awaited first meeting heralded what has been described as a new era in teacher representation this week. The 64 members of the council gathered in its Birmingham office on Tuesday. The council is chaired b the film producer David Puttnam, John Tomlinson is vice-chair and Carol Adams is chief executive. Governors of the new National College for School Leadership, which will train the country's headteachers, also held their first meeting this week.
