Gentille Alouette

17th November 2000 at 00:00
Did you know that the French for mistletoe is le gui, or that le bonhomme de neige is how you say snowman? These are just a few of the seasonal words to be learnt from a charming French advent calendar from Ecole Alouette.

Each calendar comes with two sets of stickers, one which children can attach day by day, and another to use as they choose. A pronunciation sheet is included.

Also available is a Christmas CD, price pound;2, with six traditional French carols, four simpler specially written Christmas songs and music for a nativity dance. A Nativity video with carols and songs also costs pound;12. A piano score, complete with guitar chords, costs pound;5.
