Glasgow pledge

Malcolm Chisholm, the Local Government Minister, has promised to be "absolutely fair" to Glasgow in the share-out of council grants but said it was the council's responsibility to deliver "high-quality, efficient services".

Extra funding to rationalise secondary schools and achieve long-term savings was part of a package of measures presented to Mr Chisholm by council leaders at a meeting on Monday.
