God and cavemen

11th April 2003 at 01:00
THE BBC series Walking with Cavemen continues the disturbing trend by television programme-makers to portray the "facts" of evolution of humans.

The Association of Christian Teachers, which represents the views of more than 2,500 teachers, challenges this assumption. Far from survival of the fittest, Christian teachers would assert that all humans exist because God planned it that way.

Children need to know the importance of evolutionary theory but should not be made to swallow it as fact. Walking with Cavemen sets a dangerous precedent by presenting this theory as fact, with no reference to alternative schools of thought.
