Governor no-go

22nd June 2007 at 01:00
Last week's TES reported on the shortage of school governors. I had a broad experience in education for almost 40 years. In my retirement, about three years ago, I put my name forward to Leicestershire education authority, conditional upon my viewing the information issued to governors on their appointment.

I was informed, starchily, that I could not receive such textual matter prior to appointment. No wonder there is a difficulty in recruitment.
