As suspenseful as any Hollywood thriller, Spellbound is an engaging documentary that follows eight young hopefuls as they bid to become the United States' National Spelling Bee champion (Friday magazine, September 26, 2003). In between the nail-bitingly tense rounds of the competition, director Jeff Blitz examines the backgrounds and study methods of the competitors, including Angela, born to Mexican parents who speak almost no English, and April, who reads her dictionary for eight hours a day.

Spellbound is released to buy on VHS and DVD and VHS by Metronome on March 29 , and The TES has four DVDs to give away. To be in with a chance of winning, send your name and address on a postcard or by email to the address on the right marked Spellbound offer. The first four entries drawn on March 25 will win
