Schools have been revving up in the Grand Prix online maths challenge hosted by the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency, Jaguar and Maths Year 2000. Students working in teams of four have downloaded free software and used maths skills to plan and set up a virtual Grand Prix car, calculating fuel, pit stop timings and maximum saf speeds. They will soon race these in regional heats.
All regional winners will attend a VIP final which will be held in December and hosted by Jaguar. The top team wins a day out at a Jaguar Racing event in 2001, a Jaguar goodie bag as well as a range of computer equipment for their school.
