Greenlight for London

31st October 1997 at 00:00
The Green Paper and summary versions will be available at the Department of Education and Employment's stand at the Special Needs London Exhibition at the Business Design Centre in Islington on November 6-8.

This annual event, organised by the National Association for Special Educational Needs and The Educational Publishers Council, aims to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of those who work with children and young people with special educational needs.

The exhibition, with seminars and some 40 lectures, is expected to attract teachers from all over the country. The programme includes art therapy, dyslexia, emotional and behavioural difficulties, information technology, genetics, strategies for special needs co-ordinators, music, science, speech and language disorders, autism and integrating pupils with disabilities. Entrance to the lectures is by ticket only, price Pounds 8 each. The exhibition is free and provides a valuable opportunity to see and evaluate all that is available in special educational needs.

The NASEN special needs book awards will be announced at the exhibition on November 6. The awards attract a large number of academic and children's book publishers, and producers of IT equipment and software. Entries will be on display.

Special Needs London is at the Business Design Centre, Islington, north London, November 6-8, 9.30-5.30 (4.30 Saturday). Details from Colin Gallow at NASEN. Tel: 01827 311500, fax: 01827 313005.

The December issue of NASEN's magazine, the British Journal of Special Education, will contain an article by David Blunkett in which the Secretary of State will discuss questions raised in the Green Paper. Details of how to obtain the journal, published quarterly and free to members, from NASEN
