Greenshields is new union VP

Bill Greenshields has been elected vice-president of the National Union of Teachers and will take office at the organisation's annual conference next year.

Mr Greenshields, executive member for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, has campaigned against privatisation and in favour of a single teaching union.

He will be the union's president in 2008.
