A new style of industry-education link scheme, Adopt-a-group, has been launched by Colchester Institute. Local businesses that sign up guarantee to provide speakers for general national vocational qualification courses, allow students to visit premises, help with interviews and provide work placements.

The scheme, with participants ranging from the Automobile Association to Marks and Spencer, aims to give education support which is more relevant to individuals than most schemes.
