GTC's demise

18th June 2010 at 01:00

Have those celebrating the demise of the General Teaching Council for England (GTC) thought about what will replace it? Michael Gove feels it is not robust enough as a regulatory body, and so means to replace it with something more robust, and that something is unlikely to have any accountability to those it regulates. Better to withdraw the #163;33 sub to save his #163;16 million and leave us in the frying pan we know rather than cast us into the fire.

Tom Trust, GTC elected secondary teacher member, Redruth, Cornwall.
