* Guildford College principal Gill Anslow has resigned after a long period of sick leave, the college announced this week.

A statement said the post would be advertised later this month. Meanwhile Ms Anslow's deputy John Nicholls will continue as acting principal.

Governors' chairman David Morgan said: "We are grateful to Gill for the way in which she has taken the college through great changes after it left local authority control. Its achievements under her leadership have been considerable. Guildford College has emerged from difficult and sometimes painful restructuring in great shape to face the future with confidence.
