Hands on Kirk

13th February 1998 at 00:00
Brian Monteith proved himself the master of Freudian slips when interviewed on Radio Scotland last week amid the crisis at Hibs. The General Teaching Council's public relations guru and leading Hibs shareholder was asked who he fancied for the vacant manager's job at Easter Road.

The Hands on Hibs campaigner mischievously ventured the name of "Gordon Kirk at East Fife". This would certainly be news to player manager Steve Kirk and to Gordon Kirk, principal of Moray House and vice-convener of the GTC.

Then again, Professor Kirk may be attempting to rival Bart McGettrick, principal of St Andrew's College, as the man with most jobs in Scotland.
