Archie McGlynn, who audits our schools on behalf of Her Majesty, spoke approvingly recently of a dictum much admired by late US President Harry Truman. "A good leader is someone who gets people to do things they don't want to do and get to like it." Now we know how the Inspectorate bends all these schools to its will with soothing words about praise, partnership and ethos. Well done, Archie.
