Heads search abroad

Roman Catholic schools may have to solve their leadership recruitment crisis by hiring headteachers from overseas, an academic has warned. In his annual survey of senior appointments, Professor John Howson, of Education Data Surveys, said that Catholic schools had to readvertise for 58 per cent of headships in 200506. It was the seventh year where the rate had exceeded 50 per cent.
