"Danny the Janny" McAllister of Kersland School in Paisley was named best education supporter in the annual Scottish Education Awards last week.

Mr McAllister is described as a gem and helps out wherever he can, taking pupils on trips, driving the minibus, lending a hand at the youth club and running the school disco.

Every morning he helps pupils off the bus and into school.
