British History Online is a digital library containing some of the core printed primary and secondary sources for British medieval and modern history. Its creators, the Institute of Historical Research and the History of Parliament Trust, are committed to promoting the study of history by providing these resources free of charge. From August 2006, the site will include the National Archives Calendars of State Papers, a further 40 volumes of the Victoria County History and a range of sources for social, administrative, economic and political history.
