KS 2-3

Look at the differences between the housing of various social groups in the Victorian period. Visit Diary of Victorian London for information (www.victorianlondon.org).

Compare the grimmer side of Victorian life with evidence of the rising living standards, leisure time and spending power of the middle classes, through resources such as the Learning Curve (www.learningcurve.gov.uksnapshots).

KS 4-5

Consider changes in social history in the 20th century. The same theme of contrasts could be looked at using an archive such as the British Pathe Film Archive (www.britishpathe.com).
