So Michael Gove is to summon the finest minds to decide which chunks of historical knowledge will be deemed essential for our future citizens. I do hope there will be an equal balance of non-historians, otherwise, in the words of Simon and Garfunkel, "a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest".
