Hotline defeats vandals

4th August 2000 at 01:00
VANDALISM at a group of inner-city schools has been reduced to zero with the help of a tip-off hotline.

Six schools in the Braunstone area of Leicester hired a security firm to man the hotline and patrol their grounds during he summer holidays after being dogged by vandals. One infants school had to turn pupils away three times because of arson and vandalism. Nearly 100 calls from parents and residents in seven days helped stop the attacks.
