"How long will you live?

Jimmo has heard that the average life expectancy for a head who retires at 60 is 18 months and that the average age of death of a teacher who retires at 60 is 63. He asks: "Is there a shred of truth in this?"

Thankfully Bluenose has more encouraging figures: teachers who retire at 60 in the United States die at 85 and, in the UK, at 88. Phew!
