School: Macduff Primary, Aberdeenshire; number of pupils 420; age of children involved 5-12; headteacher Jenny Ewen What was the best arts companyevent to visit your school in the past year?

Normally, because of the size of our school we go out for such events rather than having visiting companies, but last year we had a visit from the Christian Comedy Duo - Rod and Marco How did you hear about them? They were performing at the community hall and our local minister and school chaplain, David Randall, asked if we would like them to visit How long did they spend with you? About an hour What did they do? A selection of presentations of Bible stories. They did Easter in rap form - "Rock, rock the tomb" was one of the songs. They brought their own costumes and props and dressed the children up as well Did you do any preparation work beforehand? No. We just gave them the children Did you do any follow-up work? The teachers did in religious education in their separate classes How much did it cost? It was free What was so good about them? You just needed to see the children's faces (a lot of them went back for more at the community hall that night). I sat at the back of the hall and watched how they actually presented RE in a fun way How relevant was it to the curriculum? Very. And it certainly gave the teachers ideas about presenting the Easter story, because the children don't like thinking about death and the Easter story can be very hard to put across.
