Six applicants for the headship of the new Mearns primary in East Renfrewshire, all female, were invited to inspect the building work, but the contractors had onl size 11 wellies. Successful candidate Mhairi Shaw said: "It was a bit like Cinderella. If you made it look as if the wellies fitted, you got the job."
