Increase in teachers who take sick leave

More teachers took a period of sick leave last year, according to new statistics from the Welsh Government. A total of 64 per cent of teachers in maintained schools took a period of sickness absence during 2010, up from 62 per cent during 2009. However, the total number of days of sick leave taken decreased by more than 7 per cent, to 218,350 days.
