Infants taught by 15 teachers in a year

A class of five-year-olds at an inner-London school has had up 15 different teachers within a year.

A string of supply staff came and went at Peckham Park primary, in Peckham, south London, as adverts to find a permanent teacher for the Year 1class went unanswered.

Eleven children who joined the school in January and who have suffered the most disruption are receiving extra help with literacy.

Headteacher Gwen Thomas said she believed many potential applicants avoided the school because of its inner-city location.
