From November 2, 42 years to the day after the first call to The Samaritans, anyone in crisis can contact them on one national number, 0345 90 90 90.


NIACE, the national organisation for adult learning, celebrates its 75th anniversary in 1996 (also the European Year of Lifelong Learning). As part of the celebrations, it is planned to publish a book of extracts from people's learning diaries, so NIACE is asking individuals or groups to keep a week's diary of their learning activities and send them in by December 31.
