Inspectors ahoy

Your article headed "Emergency inspections are delayed" (TES, January 19) includes misleading information likely to raise further the level of anxiety in the schools concerned.

All the Lambeth and Waltham Forest inspections will occur within the period agreed with the schools and the local education authorities. In the case of the Manningham inspections in Bradford, the agreement is to have the schools inspected by the end of this year's summer term. Despite a small delay in letting the contract, we remain confident that the schools will be inspected by this time M J TOMLINSON Director of inspection Office for Standards in Education Alexandra House, 33 Kingsway London WC2.
