HARD ACT TO FOLLOW
Job hunters thinking of applying for the headship of Hampstead School in North London need to look carefully at their feet. For the shoes they aim to step into belong to one of the most active and charismatic heads in Britain.
The vacancy at the 11-18 technology college is occasioned by the retirement of Tamsyn Imison - Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, member of more than a dozen professional bodies, Secondary Heads' Association stalwart and government adviser.
Her days begin with a swim in he school pool at 7.30am, a routine that is not expected to be compulsory for the new head.
Imison has been head of Hampstead since 1984 and has seen the school develop into one of the most successful London comprehensives. It is actually located in unglamorous Cricklewood, serves two large council estates, and Imison has steadfastly resisted the temptation to select by interview.
The school is offering nearly pound;68,000 for the right person, with a closing date of September 25. Contact email@example.com Phil Revell
