For Johnson, read Robinson

Anne Robinson, host of The Weakest Link, has come under fire after branding Liverpool pupils shoplifters on the TV quiz show.

She asked Lisa Foster, who teaches at St Benedict's Catholic college in Garston, if she taught her pupils to steal. Told that she did not, the presenter asked: "Then why are they so good at it?"

Mike Storey, leader of Liverpool city council, demanded an apology, but Phil Fitzpatrick, the school's head, said he did not take the comments seriously.
