Knock-out for Mr Punch

6th February 1998 at 00:00
Library chiefs have withdrawn a children's book showing Mr Punch hanging a policeman and banging a baby's head to make it sleep.

The Punch and Judy book was removed from the shelves in Marlborough, Wiltshire, after parents of a six-year-old girl complained about its violent scenes. Evie Kerton, from St Mary's infant school, borrowed the book during a school trip to the library.
