Kylie unbowed

THE Press's poor showing may be due to the fact that some of their best players were away covering the Professional Association of Teachers conference in Harrogate.

And what coverage! TES readers will recall that the highlight was PAT president Jim O'Neill criticising Kylie Minogue for being a bum role model for youth because "you see more of her bottom than you hear of her voice".

His comments failed to chasten the dimunitive Aussie pop icon who this week was pictured in the tabloids frolicking on the French Riviera in black lacy swimwear. (Or was it lingerie? So hard to tell these days.) Bottoms up, Jim.
