Labour challenge

The Labour party is hoping to secure cross-party support for amendments to the Nursery Education and Grant Maintained Schools Bill next week in an attempt to ensure that children with special needs are not excluded from nursery schools under the voucher system.

The Bill, which receives its third reading on Tuesday, does not include an assurance that voucher-redeeming institutions will have to implement the special needs code of practice.
