Leader of the band

Where do heads find the energy? Spotted last Saturday giving it laldie on the fiddle at a St Patrick's night bash was Marion Docherty of St Thomas of Aquin's High in Edinburgh. Not musical moonlighting, just stepping out in her role as leader-aff of the St Thomas of Aquin Ceilidh Band, which draws its members from stff, pupils and parents.

Stepping in at the last minute when the original band called off (great demands on musicians' talents and livers on Paddy's night), the band played a good four hours and picked up pound;200 for school funds. Both saints would surely have approved. God works in mysterious ways . . .
