Leading MP backs university fees

TOP-UP university fees should be given serious consideration by Government ministers as a way of solving the funding crisis in higher education, the chair of the commons education select committee said this week. Barry Seerman also urged tax breaks to encourage businesses and individuals to donate money to universities, as well as a special tax on industries which benefit from highly-trained workers to go to higher education.
