LEAs must fight for us

13th October 1995 at 01:00
Congratulations to Nottinghamshire education committee for not using their budget to find the 40 per cent cost of supply cover for key stage 1 tests ("National test cover bill led to boycott, TES, September 22).

Is it not time that more local education authorities had the courage in support of their schools to stand against an expensive Government policy? Are we going to find in the 199697 budget that all our children are devalued in support of special educational needs and standard assessment tests. Local education authorities - we want to stay with you, but please have the courage to put children first.
