Letters Extra: Love conquers all

9th July 2004 at 01:00
A close friend of mine, who had a dreadful childhood and became a rebel, was frequently reprimanded in school for his apparent sloth and lack of interest. When he fell in love he made a dramatic effort to impress the girl concerned and, to the amazement (and horror) of his teachers, came top of his class in a testing examination.

If the love which accompanies puberty was encouraged in our young, I wonder what heights they might aspire to, and so amaze us all!
