Letters extra: post election

15th June 2001 at 01:00

On May 2, 1997 I woke up after one hour's sleep, still drunk and extremely happy. On June 8, 2001 after a very similar result for Labour, I woke up after as much as three hours sleep, was entirely sober on waking and felt much the same as I had the day before. Truly, things can only get bitter.
