Letters extra: Will the real Doug McAvoy please stand up?

16th April 2004 at 01:00

So. Farewell then Doug McAvoy, the man who stood up to the Labour Educationnbsp;Secretary.

Considering the fact that at one stage Mr McAvoy was a cutting-edge Blairite moderniser, appealing to the NUT's members over the heads ofnbsp;the ranks of the hirsute conference delegates, this is quite a change.

Whether the change should be attributed to Bro.Doug or New Labour is lessnbsp;certain.
