Losing out?

I was surprised at the tone of your article on gender (Research Focus, TES, November 22).

We will always relish any achievement by boys over girls: "but they have salvaged self-respect by outscoring their female classmates".

The article added: "And the fact...is unlikely to spoil their sense of triumph."

We are trying to work together to achieve good results and I would have thought that a paper such as The TES would not encourage this boys v. girls, "boys are better" attitude.
