Loss of Walter Humes

* Strathclyde University has made two key appointments to its education faculty following the loss of Walter Humes, head of the educational studies department and TES Scotland columnist, to Aberdeen University.

Professor Humes will be succeeded by Steve Baron, poached from Glasgow University, and the faculty has appointed Brian Boyd, reader in education and regular TES Scotland contributor, to a professorial post.
