Magna Carta school in Runnymede, Surrey, has been awarded Pounds 725,000 from the National Lottery towards a community arts centre, the first arts grant to be given to a school in the south-east. The rest of the Pounds 1 million needed has been raised from the local council, industry and the Foundation for Sport and the Arts. It will be used to create a 250-seat auditorium with changing and rehearsal rooms and studios.
