Alan Combes, an education consultant, writer and former teacher based in Scarborough, wants the DfEE to re-print Teaching as a Subversive Activity by Neil Postman and Charles Weingartner, and issue every teacher with a copy.

"It's a 1970 classroom masterpiece brimming with stunning insights and practical ieas. It contains such gems as 100 questions which the curriculum should really be exploring, as well as a brilliant framework for developing questioning skills."

We pay pound;40 for each recommendation published. Write to Love It, Friday, The TES, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX
