Two books, Maps and Rivers in the series Make It Work! Geography by Andrew Haslam and Barbara Taylor (Two-Can PublishingFranklin Watts), received a gold certificate at the Geographical Association's annual conference in April, for combining "masses of information with superb artwork" in a hands-on approach to KS2-3. Silver certificates went to the A-level text Population, Resources and Development by Jane Chrispin and Francis Jegarde (Collins Educational) and to Teaching Geography at Key Stage 2 by Bill Chambers and Karl Donert (Chris Kington Publishing).

There is still time to submit material published in 1997, which will make a significant contribution to geography teaching or learning. This could include software, worksheets, audio visual material, atlases and CD-Roms as well as books. Closing date: December 1.
