Maths hits the wallcharts

29th October 2004 at 01:00
Many people can benefit from Step-by-Step wallcharts that demonstrate simple mathematical calculations - teachers agreeing on a shared school policy, nonplussed parents learning what their children are up to, and the pupils themselves. Multiplication and division get three 350mm x 1000mm charts each, with bright colours and clear diagrams reinforcing lucid explanations. Teachers' notes suggest the most effective kinds of preparatory discussion, how to help children move from the known to the unknown and when to introduce words like factor and quotient. The Step-by-Step wallcharts cost pound;10.99 + VAT for each set of three from PCET Publishing.
