Mini Maths Olympics

TES Resources user blimmers shares an exciting Olympics-themed lesson for primary maths. In teams, pupils play events including:

- Throw the toy: each player throws a toy three times. Teams measure the distance and record the best throw.

- Tower building: pupils get points for building the highest matchstick tower and bonus points for imagination and cooperation.

- Take a trip: pupils are given a hypothetical budget of #163;1,800 and must plan a family holiday by researching accommodation online.

What else?

Pupils will use their logic skills, work out averages and create a scoreboard. You could also get pupils to make charts comparing how different competitors fare throughout the Games.
